Chapter 6 :
„Dolphy?Dolphy,are you awake?“ asked Jim as he gently shook her shoulder.
„You awake?You awake?“ imitated Morph Jim`s words.
„Huh?Wha-„ Dolphy stuttered,turning around in her bed,eyes only half-opened and in fact more sleeping than awake.
Her vision was blurry,all she could make out was that it was quite dark in the room,perhaps because the sun hadn`t risen yet and that Jim was standing next to her bed, already fully dressed in his casual clothes with Morph excitedly flying around him.
„Just five more minutes,Mom.“ she murmured and fell asleep almost immediately.
„Dolph,I know you`re awake.“ Jim whispered with an amused smile.
No reaction.
He moved his face closer to hers and kissed her on the cheek.
„Awww,isn`t he cute?“ she thought but did her best not to show any sign of emotion.
„Nice try.Maybe the next time.“
„Hey,don`t you remember what we wanted to do today?“ asked Jim,crossed his arms and looked at her expectantly.
„Uhm,sleeping till midday and burning our school stuff?“ she suggested while yawning and turned her back on Jim,pulling her blanket closer around her.
„No,we`ve planned some pranks!Ya know,revenge,Carren,your fabulous roommates...Ain`t it ringing any bells?“
„Ringing any bells?“ Morph asked,too,and transformed himself into a little bell.
Dolphy yawned again.
„Can`t we do it another time?“
„Heck,she`s really no morning person.“ Jim thought to himself.
„You`ll never get me out of this bed,Jim.“ Dolphy mocked and grinned into her blanket.
„Oh,you`re so sure about that?“ he said and raised an eyebrow.
„Yep.“
Suddenly an evil smile spread across Jim`s face as he lay his hands on Dolphy`s blanket and ripped it away from her in not more than a second.The teenage girl instantly cuddled herself together in a ball,a reflex caused by the sudden coldness around her.But that didn`t last for long because all of a sudden she grabbed her pillow and threw it against Jim,who didn`t expect this attack and tumbled backwards and landed on his bed.
„That was unfair!“ Dolphy yelled at him and tried to hold back her smile which wasn`t all too successful.
„Yeah,says the right one.“ grinned Jim back.
Then he threw the pillow back at her which she caught instantly and pointed to the clock on the wall.It showed 5 : 41 am.
„Now,hurry up,we haven`t got much time.They`re gonna get up at 7 o`clock.“
„Okay,okay...“ she said with an annoyed voice and finally managed to leave her bed. „Arrgh,whose idiotic idea was it to get up in the middle of the night?“
„Yours.“ answered Jim grinning.
„I should have known.“ she said cooly,took her clothes and went into the bathroom.
„Just some seconds.“ she announced before closing the door behind her.
„Just some seconds!Just some seconds!“ mimicked Morph.
20 minutes later the trio sneeked to the second floor where Dolphy`s former room was located.
„You got it?“ she whispered to Jim who then showed her a small transparent bag with some kind of white powder in it.
„Yes,the best itching powder avaiable.“
„Where did you get that from,anyway?“
„Believe me,ya don`t wanna know...You got yours?“
„Yep,tasty onion juice,fresh from the cafeteria kitchen.“
„You`ve really been in the kitchen?The origin where all that awful food comes from?What does it look like?“
„Believe me,ya don`t wanna know.“ smiled Dolphy back.
„Don`t wanna know!Don`t wanna know!“ yelled Morph.
„Morph!Pssst!“ whispered Jim and Dolphy in unison.
„Pssst!Pssst!“ imitated Morph with the same serious look the two teenagers gave him.
Jim looked right and left at the hallway to make sure that there was really nobody around.
„Okay,Morphy,now listen to me.“ he extended his hand so the pink blob could land on it and stared him in the eyes.
„You take this powder,fly into the room over there and then in the bathroom-„
„It`s on the right side of the room,just like it is in ours.“ continued Dolphy. „There are three purple powder impacts on the shelves under the two mirrors.They shouldn`t be very difficult to open so you just have to sprinkle some of that white powder here into them.Alright?“
The little shapeshifter nodded enthusiastically and didn`t wait any longer to fly towards the according room,the bag with the white dust in his „hands“ and slipped through the slit under the door without any difficulties.
„Do you think he`ll manage it?“ asked Dolphy insecurely.
„Don`t worry,he`s a pro at playing pranks.“ smiled Jim and put his arm around her shoulder.
„You`ll see.“
Some moments later Morph appeared under the door slit and flew happily back to his two friends.
„Did you do it?“ wanted Dolphy to know.
The pink blob nodded proudly and let the empty small bag fall in Jim`s hands.
„Good job,Morphy.“ praised Jim his pet and stroke his belly with his finger.
Morph giggled with delight and licked Jim`s cheek.
„Yeah,you`ve done that great.But it`s not over yet.“ meant Dolphy and gave him a sign with her hand to come nearer to her.
„Do you remember those long,thin,small bottle-like things next to the powder impacts?“
Morph seemed to think for a second and then transformed himself into what he had seen there.
„Yes,exactly this!It`s their mascara.“
Dolphy took the thin test tube with the onion juice out of her pocket and gave it to Morph.
„Now take this and do the same with it as you did with the powder,just this time you put it in the mascara,okay?“
The shapeshifter didn`t hesitate and dashed off back to the door and did as he was told.As he came back the three of them made their way to their next victim.
In front of Carren`s room :
„Are you sure we should really do this?“ asked Dolphy and gave Jim a sceptical look.
„I mean,ya know what happens when he gets angry.“
„Yes,but I don`t think it`s a big deal if he threatens us ´cause we`re outsiders or ´cause we`ve played a prank on him.He doesn`t like us either way.“ he explained while he and Dolphy fastened a rope to the door frame,only some inches over the floor.
„Well,that should hold.“said Jim as he stood up and looked at his work. „Step aside,this is gonna be a real mess.“
He grinned like a little child and grabbed an oil can which he had brought with him.
„Lemme guess.Equipment for your solar surfer?“ asked Dolphy amused while Jim poured the greasy black liquid on the ground right in front of Carren`s door.
His grin grew even wider as he saw the oil spreading across the floor.
„Hey,I wanna help you!“ begged Dolphy.
„Nah,no problem,I can do it myself.“
„Okay,then let`s say I really,really,REALLY like to cause a mess so please give me that oil can!“
Before Jim could react Dolphy had ripped it out of his hand and had apparently much fun at distinguishing every clean spot she could make out.
„Uhm,Dolph,I think that`s enough.“ meant Jim as he was putting some thick-flowing glue on the part of the wall which was exactly on the opposite of Carren`s dormitory.
„Sure,there`s no oil left anyway...Are you done?“
„Yes,everything`s ready.Morph,you know what to do.“
The blob saluted enthusiastically and made his way into the prey`s room,while the two teenagers ran to the stairs,were they hid behind the wall,hoping that the distance to the scene of the crime would make sure that nobody saw them.
In Carren`s room :
Morph cautiously flew into the room where Carren and two of his friends were loudly asleep.The first of his roommates,Lenaro,was a human with a quite long,edgy face and brown hair that had blonde streaks in it.Rakitan,the other one,was from a species called Kimanakas. Their body-build looked rather human but they had four eyes,light green skin and only three claw-like fingers on each hand.
The little shapeshifter silently made his way towards Carren`s bed,carefully went nearer to his ear and then suddenly assumed the form of an alarm bell and ringed as loud as it was possible without waking the students in the other rooms.
„Aaahhhhh!!!What the-„ screamed Carren as he jumped out of his bed just like his two roommates.
„It`s a fire alarm!Outta here!!!“
He panicked and ran to the door,flung it open hastily,stumbled over the tightened rope,fell harshly on the ground and slid on his stomach all the way to the opposite wall which he arrived with his head first.Before he could start yelling out all the curses he`d ever heard in his whole life he saw out of the corner of his eye that his two friends were sliding towards him and violently crashed in one another.
„Ahh,shit!“ was all Carren managed to say.
Jim and Dolphy had such a hard time stifling their laughter that they were almost suffocating.
Suddenly Morph appeared in the hallway and curiously surveyed the three strugling teenagers on the ground.
Dolphy nearly got a heart-attack as she saw Morph approaching them more and more.Fortunately the little blob looked at Jim for a second so he could give him a sign to come back instantly.
„Ouch,get off of me,you idiots!“ snarled Carren as he pushed away the other two boys.
He tried to lift his head but soon realized that a part of his head was glued to the wall!
„Blasted!“ he cursed and tried to get away from the wall,without success.
After trying to remove the glue from his hair carefully he got fed up and ripped his head away from the wall with as much strenght as he could apply.He let out a cry of pain as a nice tuft of his black hair was teared out of the side of his head and still hung in the glue.
„C`mon.“ said Dolphy grinning from ear to ear. „I`m pretty sure our parents don`t want us to hear all the curses he`s going to say now.“
The two teenagers and Morph sneaked back to their dormitory without anybody noticing that they were ever there.
When they were back in their own room Jim and Dolphy suddenly burst out laughing like insane.
„That was simply perfect!“ laughed Dolphy. „A number one master-prank!“
„Master-prank!Master-prank!“ giggled Morph as he flew around them and cuddled against Dolphy`s cheek.
„Morphy,you were fantastic!Here,this is for you.“ she smiled and gave him a chocolate cookie that she had taken out of her backpack.
The small blob chirped happily and landed on the table where he greedily began to eat his reward.Jim let himself fall on his bed and lay on his back,holding his stomach.
„Yeah,as Captain Amelia would say : Unorthodox,but ludicrously effective!“
„Who`s Captain Amelia?“ asked Dolphy dumbfounded as she took a break from laughing.
„Oh,nevermind,I`ll tell you another time.“ meant Jim and yawned.
Dolphy raised one eyebrow.
„Now look who`s tired.“ she smirked.
„I`m not tired.“ said Jim but had to yawn at the same moment.
He stretched his whole body and sat up,leaning against the wall.
„Okay,I guess I`m really a bit tired.“
„Whatever made me think of that?“ smiled Dolphy and sat next to Jim on his bed.
„No idea.“ grinned Jim back. „What time is it?“
Dolphy looked at her watch.
„6 : 34 am.Heh,we`ve done it pretty quickly,haven`t we?“
„Oh yeah,we`re SO good!“ smiled Jim proudly but had to yawn again,just like Dolphy did.
„Geez,that`s infective...“
„The school bell won`t ring until 7 am so there`s time for a little nap,don`t you think?“ asked Jim his friend who answered with another yawn.
„Hhm,naps are always good.“ she said as she lay her head on Jim`s chest.He put his arm around her and leaned his head against the wall.When Morph had finished his snack he noticed that the two teenagers were sleeping.The little shapeshifter couldn`t think of anything to do alone so he joined them and lay himself down on Jim`s shoulder where he drifted off to sleep just like his friends.
In the meantime in Carren`s room :
„They are going to pay for this!“ yelled Carren furiously.
„How do you know it were those freaks?“ asked Lenaro.
„How do I know that?Do you know any other brainless morons who would dare to play a prank on ME!?“
Carren gritted his teeth and balled his fist,which caused Lenaro and Rakitan to back away in respect and fear of their leader.He went into the bathroom and looked at the bald spot on his head.With one punch of his fist Carren destroyed the mirror,not minding the small fragments of the glass which were cutting in his skin.
„Uhm,so we`re gonna change the plan?“ asked Rakitan cautiously.
Carren came back to them and balled his fist again,allowing the blood to run along his hand.
„No,we`ll just aggravate it.“ he answered with a sinister grin,which even managed to make his two roommates feel uncomfortable although they had known him for quite a long time.
„But...“ began Lenaro and Carren gave him a stern glance.
„What?“
„Uhm,when you`re really planning what I`m thinking you`re planning then we can`t risk that some stupid teacher appears and-„
„No worries.I`ve already thought of that.“ he smirked and showed his friends a small sheet of paper.
„Yeah,man,that`s great.But are you sure they`ll take the bait?“
Suddenly this devilish grin spread across Carren`s face once more.
„Oh,trust me,they will...“
